This is one episode which moved me to tears and which is testimony of great acting by the casts. With the false accusation by Gold Chemical that Lovely Cosmetic had plagiarized their serum and the flood of damaging online comments, the Lovely Cosmetic team seems to be fighting a losing battle. But this crisis is perhaps a blessing in disguise as it brought out unexpected courage and determination from the team, even for the usually timid Nam Jeong Gi. When pushed to a corner, there is really nothing more to lose. It’s either do or die.
Nam Jeong Gi is upset with Gold Chemical’s false claim of its serum being the original when they were obviously copying a product he had created.
Even the usually meek President Jo had enough of Director Kim as the latter had gone too far this time.
Everyone is upset at their helplessness against the devious tactics of Gold Chemical. They had lost both the pop-up stall as well as their slot on JJ Home Shopping. Do they really have no choice but to give up marketing their own products and revert to being a sub-contractor?
One of the scenes which made me tear up …… the heartache of being helpless and having to endure the humiliation from those who holds the power. But even in the face of hopelessness, Nam Jeong Gi is determined that this time he will have to take a stand.
‘Do or die’ ….. making a small but significant step towards a change in mindset.
Gathering up his courage to stage a lone protest in front of Gold Chemical
Another tearful moment for me watching this scene of Nam Jeong Gi’s persistence in his protest in spite of knowing it might not make a difference. Even if it might seem crazy, it is important to him to defend what is rightly theirs.
With Bong Gi’s help, Hyeon Wu and Mi Ri produced a simple but humorous promo clip to counter Gold Chemical’s false accusation of product plagiarism. Even the usually poker-face Ok Da Jung could not help being amused as she gave them permission to post it on their website.
Time for confrontation. After issuing an ultimatum to Director Kim to retract his false claim of product plagiarism or else his affair would be publicized, Ok Da Jung marches into the office of JJ Home Shopping to deal with her former mother in law. With her motto of giving back what was received, she slaps the ex-husband and tells him not to contact her again.
Director Kim’s retraction of product plagiarism was a triumph for the Lovely Cosmetic team.
Even if the team might not always agree with her, Ok Da Jung’s tough stand in dealing with and overcoming their crisis had earned their respect.
Nam Jeong Gi’s dream of having a well deserved paid holiday.
So those pictures on Sang Hyun’s recent update on Instagram was taken during the filming of this scene.
A burst pipe in the kitchen caused their home to be flooded and the Nam family had to make an emergency evacuation.

This is not only a comedic drama, it also has a lots of touching moments. The first scene that made me in tears was when NJG lost his job, and in order to earn money he became a moving company labour, he has to stick the pain relieving patches on his back by himself. He bore the suffer himself without letting the family know. The second scene was NJG burst into tears knowing that the protest would not change anything! Poor NJG
NJG did not have it easy then as he was just meekly accepting whatever happens, whether through misfortune or what he thought he could never change. But in just 6 episodes we have seen him undergo a transformation. Standing in front of that ‘giant’ (Gold Chemical) to make his voice heard, to protect his rights was a giant leap for him. And he can be a man who has confidence in himself and even win a tough lady’s heart 🙂
Yes, there were other touching scenes but episode 6 was the one which made me tear up the most. This drama is something many of their people can identify with because of the entrenched hierarchy system in their society but it has a message for us too.
