Episode 8 really hurts my heart. A number of scenes which made me tear up …. Hyun Joo pleading with her dad not to let Do Young know about her illness and daughter Saet Byul asking if her mum is dying, the anguish in Do Young’s eyes when he realizes that Hyun Joo knows he is lying about the suit and the piggyback ride on Namsan.

Do Young is startled to find himself in Da Hye’s house and tries to recall the previous night’s events.
Did he really spend the night with her?

Da Hye tells him she had sent his clothes to the cleaners and dresses him in a suit she had prepared. It’s amazing that she had a whole wardrobe full of clothes for him, as if she is confident that he would be coming over often.

Do Young is annoyed that Da Hye had sent people over to make changes to his office. He does not want her to meddle with his way of doing things even if she thinks it’s archaic. He knows she’s behind all that has been happening and makes it clear he has no intention to divorce Hyun Joo. Unlike her, Hyun Joo does not try to change him into someone he is not.
Hyun Joo is late for their arranged dinner date as she was unwell and had overslept at Hong Suk’s house. She rushes to their meeting venue and overhears Do Young making a phone call to Da Hye, asking for his clothes which she said had been sent to the cleaners.

Do Young wants to get back his clothes as he cannot go home in this suit. He has no choice but to return to Da Hye’s house for them but to his dismay, she tells him she had discarded it. Though she finally lets on that nothing had happened between them the night he had passed out drunk at her house, how is he going to explain to Hyun Joo about the suit he’s wearing?

Burning Do Young’s clothes which Da Hye had sent to taunt her.
Hyun Joo is deliberately pushing Do Young away as she’s aware she does not have much time left. Even if it is tearing her apart, she has to let him go so that he can get back on his feet. She might not be able to do much for him but Da Hye has the means to help him succeed.

Hyun Joo tells her dad she would rather die alone as she does not want her loved ones to experience the pain she had felt watching her mum die. She pleads with him not to tell Do Young about her illness.
Saet Byul had overheard their conversation and realized that her mum is dying. One cannot imagine how a young child like her must feel about the impending loss of a parent.

To make up for missing the previous day’s dinner date and because she has something to tell him, Hyun Joo calls Do Young to meet for lunch.

Do Young stops short as he sees Hyun Joo in her new dress, thinking how beautiful she is.
When Hyun Joo commented how nice he looks in his new suit, Do Young said that he had bought it as he did not have time to go home and change. It was when she replied asking him to pack his old suit for her to bring to the cleaners that he realized she already knew.

Do Young gives Hyun Joo a piggyback ride as she’s too tired to continue the walk. What really got to me about this moment is the deep sadness on her face as she clings to Do Young, as if reluctant to let him go.

As they sit at the spot where Do Young had proposed to her, Hyun Joo finally tells him that they should file for a divorce.

Do Young does not want to divorce but Hyun Joo has made up her mind. She gets up to leave but suddenly collapses on the steps.

Will Do Young finally find out about her illness?
