I find this episode rather confusing, especially where Dr Jang is concerned. I’ve re-watched the scenes but am still trying to figure out what is happening.

Scene 1 …. the senior doctor is angry with Dr Jang regarding Hyun Joo’s latest MRI scan, saying he has been lying to her. Does it mean the tumor is not benign as he had claimed and now it has become worse?

Scene 2 ….
Dr Jang apologizes to Do Young for lying to him. I don’t remember him saying much during their previous meeting so am not sure what he is referring to. If it’s to do with his feelings for Hyun Joo, he had merely nodded to Do Young’s question on whether he loves her.

From what Dr Jang is telling him, Do Young figures out that Hyun Joo has only a month left.

He is deeply saddened and after a moment’s reflection, comes to a decision. There is not much time left
to fulfill a promise.

He hands over an envelope containing a tour booking to Bali, a holiday he had promised Hyun Joo when they were newly married. Since it is not possible for him to go with her now, he hopes Dr Jang can take her there.

No matter what, he hopes for a miracle right until the end.

Getting ready for the JQ project presentation

I could not help laughing at this scene when I think of Sang Hyun rehearsing the dialogue in the BTS clip.

Whenever Branch manager Park talks to Do Young, he would drop hints that there is a lot more than meets the eye regarding the JQ contract. If Do Young wants to find out what he means, they can meet up.

Scene 3 ….. Dr Jang becomes emotional as he struggles to convey what he wants to say to Hyun Joo.
I have re-watched this scene multiple times, trying to figure out his sudden change of heart. I’m not sure if I interpreted the dialogue correctly but Dr Jang seems to have developed cold feet towards their relationship, telling Hyun Joo that he is unable to give her the kind of love she needs.
I’m a bit puzzled as I thought he had fallen for her and had even told the senior doctor that he would not give up this chance. It seems to be something to do with her latest MRI scan. Could it be that he is afraid to have to go through the pain of losing someone again, so he would rather distance himself emotionally? But then he had known her condition right from the start.

I’m glad that Hyun Joo makes an acknowledgement in this scene that it does not seem right for her to spend her final moments with Dr Jang rather than with her family.
My thoughts …. it did not seem right to me too. Even if one were to die alone, it would not lessen the pain for your loved ones.
Saet Byeol is upset the adults are keeping things from her. No one is looking for Hyun Joo though she did not come home last night. What if her mum had left to die somewhere?
That’s so sad, what can one say to a child under these circumstances?

Do Young comes across Hyun Joo’s notebook in his study and sadly recalls their moments together in the past.

As Hyun Joo unexpectedly comes across Do Young crying in the study, she seems to realize something …..
